By purchasing a Dedicated IP HostMonster will be adding a new IP address to your server for you to exclusively access your account. Having a Dedicated IP will allow you to install and use some items that require your website to have it's own Dedicated IP.
Dedicated IP's are sold for $2.50 a month (prorated). Since they are purchased to match the length of your hosting contract, you are charged $2.50 a month for the number of months remaining in your hosting account.
